As the Beast from the East bites, do you know which service is right for you?

01 March 2018

Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group and Luton Clinical Commissioning Group are asking members of the public to consider whether they know the right NHS service to use when they suffer an injury or become ill this winter. With A&E departments busier than ever and with the bad weather expected to increase pressure on hospitals this weekend, it’s more important than ever to know which service is the right one for you.

In our latest video, we asked 5 year old twins, Emma and Matthew where they would go if they hurt themselves or became ill and when they don’t need to go to the doctor.

Dr Alvin Low, Clinical Chair of Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) said: “With A&E departments and GP practices across the country still facing winter pressures, it is important to know which service is the right one for you. By choosing the right service, it can help to alleviate some of the pressure that our front-line staff are facing, freeing them up to treat the people who are more seriously ill.”

Dr Nina Pearson, Clinical Chair of Luton Clinical Commissioning Group (LCCG) said: “If you are unsure of what service is right for you or your child, call NHS111 who can give you advice and signpost to the most appropriate service. If you have a cough or a cold, self-care at home is best or you can visit your local pharmacist, a trained professional who can help to treat most minor ailments.”

Knowing which service you should use is easier than you think, Emma and Matthew made it look like child’s play. Watch the video here.
