Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Groups have today announced the appointment of a new Accountable Officer, Patricia Davies, who will join the leadership team in November.
Patricia’s role, working with local doctors, will be to lead the planning and buying of health services for local people. In her role she will help establish new ways of working across the region’s health and social care organisations to provide better, more joined up care; improved services both in and out of hospital; and to ensure a sound financial footing for the local health system.
This is part of the drive for the local NHS, local authorities and other social care partners to work in new ways together, with a shared ambition to deliver consistently high quality, sustainable services to meet local people’s needs into the long term.
Announcing the appointment, the Chairs of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Groups, Heather Moulder, Dr Nina Pearson and Dr Nicola Smith said:
“We are delighted to welcome Patricia to Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. This is an important appointment for us, as we work with partners to establish an Integrated Care System.
“A clinician by background, Patricia is a strong candidate who demonstrates exceptional leadership and who relishes the challenge of joining us at this pivotal time to improve health and care for people living in our area.”
Patricia Davies said:
“I am very pleased to have been offered this new role and look forward to working with doctors, other health and care professionals and leaders in the NHS and local authorities across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes to improve and sustain health and care services.
“There are indeed challenges here, as elsewhere, but I believe by working together with staff, partner organisations, residents and communities we will find the right solutions to ensure we can deliver high quality services that meet people’s needs into the future.”
