As any parent will tell you, the winter months are the worst for childhood illnesses. To help parents protect their children from the annual onslaught of colds, flu, sickness and infections, Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) is running an online advice session presented by a specialist in children’s health.
Dr Sanhita Chakrabarti is the BCCG’s lead clinician for children, and on Wednesday 23 January at 10am she is running a webinar for parents entitled Help Us Help You. During the 30-minute interactive session, Dr Chakrabarti will cover a range of topics including registering with a GP, the flu jab, home care for minor ailments and what to do at the first signs of illness. She will also explain where parents should go to seek medical advice or treatment should their child fall ill.
“With so many health services available in Bedford, it is important parents know where to go to get the right treatment and advice,” says Dr Chakrabarti. “I’ll be talking about the different types of services and how parents can choose the one most suitable for their healthcare needs, whether that be their local pharmacist, GP surgery, Walk-in Centre, NHS111 or emergency care. By going to the right service, parents will ensure their children are seen and treated more quickly.”
