Free health checks at the Dunstable Town Fayre

18 September 2013

People visiting the Dunstable Town Fayre on Saturday 21 September will be able to speak to the street doctor, get a free health check and even get a free foot screening assessment.

Staff and members from the Chiltern Vale Locality of Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG), which is responsible for planning and buying health care for local residents, will be on hand to provide advice and support to people about local health care and information about what they are doing to ensure the best possible health services for local people.

The locality team together with its health partners will be located in The Square, Dunstable from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Come along to:

  • speak to the South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) 0-19 Years Team with any questions or concerns you may have about your baby or children. The SEPT Podiatry Team will be available to provide advice and even a free foot screening assessment.
  • speak to a Street Doctor from one of our local GP practices (from 10am to 2pm) about any concerns you may have about your health.
  • have a free NHS Health Check if you are aged between 40 and 74 years, at the Travel Choices Hub (1 Ashton Square) from 10.30am to 2.30pm. Further information will be available at the Square.

Marisa Richards, Locality Manager at Bedfordshire CCG, said: “We encourage everyone to visit us to take part in all the activities, ask questions about their health and find out about the work we are doing to improve health care for local people.”

Dunstable Town Council is hosting the Town Fayre in Priory Gardens from 10am to 4pm.

Free parking is available all day in the car parks in Dunstable Town Centre.

Chiltern Vale is one of five localities that makes up Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group.  It works closely with local GP practices to plan and buy the right health care for local people.
