GPs in Dunstable donned their stethoscopes and took it in turns to become Street Doctors at the Dunstable town fair, last month, offering health advice and encouragement to local people.
Visitors to the town fair were able to consult the Street Doctor about their health concerns and ailments and receive on the spot advice and information about healthy living. Some also took up free foot screening assessment nearby.
The Street Doctor scheme was part of the health fair, an initiative of the BCCG Chiltern Vale locality team and designed to run as part of the town fair. It drew support from health charities and other health service organisations.
“The event went well despite the ‘Dunstable drizzle’ in the afternoon” said David White, Chiltern Vale locality manager. “We had a steady flow of visitors and the street doctor concept went down very well with the public.”
