More than 90 people from 58 potential providers of health services came along to an open meeting on 25 June, where Bedfordshire CCG and Milton Keynes CCG joined forces to share the latest thinking from the Healthcare Review. There was a good range of organisations in attendance, both large and small, including Bedford Hospital Trust, Milton Keynes Hospital, medical specialist organisations, hospices, voluntary sector organisations and pharmaceutical companies.
Dr Diane Bell, Head of Strategy and System Redesign at BCCG, said: "The event enabled us to engage with potential service providers and make sure that there is interest and capacity out there in the market to deliver the potential healthcare solutions that may come out of the Review.
"I would stress that no decisions have been made as yet, and we are still meeting with people to gather input to influence the shape of the Review. However, it is important that we start talking to potential providers now to make sure the range of possible solutions we are considering can be supported and delivered in the future."
Following on from this event, Bedfordshire CCG held a further event on 9 July specifically for voluntary sector organisations. The event focused on procurement processes and discussions on how the voluntary sector may be able to work with the CCG on future opportunities.
