Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be hosting the ‘all about your health’ marquee at the Bedford River Festival next weekend on 19 to 20 July. Working in partnership with local health providers the marquee will be located on the embankment next to the Butterfly Bridge and will be packed full of health information, various activities and tips and advice for a healthy lifestyle.

Some of the activities taking place include:

  • Having a ride on a smoothie bikes to burn off calories while pedalling away to make a fruit smoothie
  • Checking how clean (or dirty) your hands are with the infection team from Bedford Hospital
  • Having a health check with Horizon Health Choices

There will be lots of other organisations taking part, including:

  • Healthwatch Bedford Borough and Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire - the independent consumer champions for local health and social care services
  • Bedoc – the out of hours GP service,
  • Bedford Cancer Action Champions
  • Breathe Easy – a  support charity for lung conditions

Parents will also be able to access a sheltered location where they can come and feed their babies in privacy.

During the festival, Bedfordshire CCG will continue to engage with the local community to gather their thoughts and ideas on health services and how they want the services provided.

Steve Hone, the Interim Chair of Bedfordshire CCG, said:  “We really want people to take the opportunity to come and talk to us about their views on healthcare services in Bedfordshire and learn how they get involved in future projects. I hope members of the public visiting the marquee will find the information useful in helping them to lead healthier lifestyles while having a little bit of fun.”
