Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) has announced that Interim Chair Steve Hone has now been appointed for a three year term as Chair of the organisation. The announcement was made at a public meeting of BCCG’s Governing Body held at Astral Park, Leighton Buzzard on 04 February 2015.
Steve became interim Chair of BCCG in April 2014, and following a recent recruitment process has now been confirmed to the substantive appointment with effect from 1 March 2015.
Dr Paul Hassan, Accountable Officer of BCCG said,
“I am delighted that Steve has agreed to take on the role of Chair of our Governing Body on a permanent basis and congratulate him on his appointment. Since his arrival we have been reviewing our internal governance and he will now be helping us to implement the recommendations from this. I know that he is committed to patient and public involvement and will help us expand our work in this area.”
Prior to his appointment at BCCG, Steve was Chair of Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for seven years. There, he led the trust to Foundation status, while it invested over £40m to improve facilities. Among the developments he oversaw were a new treatment centre, intensive care facilities and a new community-based outpatient unit. His experience as a Foundation Trust Chair has given him a deeply held belief in the power of patient involvement in healthcare.
As Chair, Steve will focus on further developing the strategy and governance of the organisation through the work of the governing body while seeking to develop good working relationships with all healthcare and stakeholder partners including GPs in Bedfordshire who are members of the CCG.
