BCCG and Luton CCG are working together to procure qualified organisations to provide the following services for Bedfordshire residents: audiology (over 55 adult hearing), diagnostics (non-obstetric ultrasound service) and diagnostics (MRI service).
The services are being commissioned using the AQP process. This means that once the two CCGs have been assured that an organisation meets specific standards, they will then be ‘accredited’ to provide services aligned with patient choice.
The AQP procurement route facilitates ‘in-market’ competition, centered around increased patient choice. It gives a range of health care options for patients, for example, services could be closer to their place of work or more suitable for their individual needs.
