Bedfordshire residents to be consulted on prioritising funds for local NHS services

08 April 2016

Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) recently asked local people to give their views on whether specialist fertility treatment, gluten-free food and over-the counter medicines should continue to be funded by the NHS.
The CCG recognises the need to balance funding for these three services with all the other treatments and healthcare which could be provided by the NHS in Bedfordshire.
As part of the listening exercise, the CCG met with a number of local groups and invited members of the public to take part in a survey.

We are keen to build on these conversations and give people the opportunity to give their views more formally about the way in which funding for healthcare is prioritised to best meet the needs of the local population.
Because of the level of interest people have shown, our Governing Body decided at a meeting on Thursday 07 April 2016, to proceed with a full public consultation about these three services.

Information about how to get involved will be published on the BCCG website www.bedfordhireccg.nhs.uk in the coming weeks.
