Bedfordshire CCG welcomes report which praises Bedford hospital and will support improvements
20 April 2016
Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) welcomes the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) report on Bedford Hospital which praised the Trust for its dementia facilities and care, and recognises some areas of outstanding practice including safer treatment for aneurysms, the birthing pool for high-risk mums and less disruptive imaging for critical care patients.
Anne Murray, BCCG’s Director of Nursing and Quality said: “As commissioners we will continue to work closely with Bedford Hospital Trust to support the service improvements that are needed. CQC reports provide health organisations with an opportunity to ensure that high standards of safety and quality for patients are maintained.
We will be monitoring the progress the Trust makes on improving governance and management of incidents, risks and patient records. Listening to patients is paramount – doing this will bring improvements to patient privacy and dignity and handling of complaints.
We are reassured that progress has already been made with the external review of maternity services and with the hospital’s plans to recruit additional qualified paediatric staff.”
