Bedfordshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, in partnership with Carers in Bedfordshire, is creating a practical Commitment to Carers Plan for Bedfordshire.
The Commitment to Carers Plan will shape carers’ mental health plans and has been written with help from the most important people in the process – the carers themselves.
The draft plan includes a comprehensive set of standards that mental health staff will pledge to meet and a list of commitments to carers - some initial proposals include:
· Trust staff working with carers as equal partners
· Involving carers in the design, planning and development of services
· All care co-ordinators to contact the main carer of each person who is on a Care Programme Approach once a month
· Staff to receive training in identifying carers
The draft plan is being launched as part of National Carers Week on Wednesday 8 June at The Rufus Centre, Steppingley Road, Flitwick, MK45 1AH, from 1pm-3pm, with lunch on arrival.
We are extending an open invitation for carers, healthcare partners, voluntary sector organisations or individuals who are passionate about healthcare to join us at the launch event.
The Trust is also holding a separate meeting in Dunstable for service users and carers from 10am-12.30pm the same day. Contact email@example.com or call 07748 336577 for more details.
