20 October 2016

A Bedfordshire GP who is passionate about improving people’s mental health has become the first doctor to join a new GP training scheme launched by Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG).

New GP Fellowship recruit, Dr Norah Chidote who has a special interest in mental health will be working with local NHS commissioners on dementia services and suicide prevention.

Dr Chidote who is a GP at London Rd Surgery in Bedford said: “I am very excited about having the opportunity to develop my skills and experience in healthcare commissioning and can’t wait to get started. There has been a lot of good local work already on suicide prevention, but I want to help develop better support and intervention for this and for dementia diagnosis and care.”

The Bedfordshire CCG fellowship scheme helps to make the most of the clinical expertise of GPs and puts them at the very heart of commissioning health services for local people.
