Following a gas leak in Ampthill on 15 November, the gas supply was turned off to enable a repair. This meant many properties in Ampthill, Maulden and Clophill have been without gas for a few days.
The gas supply has been successfully restored to almost all homes affected and Bedfordshire Police, the NHS, council and National Grid, have been working together to support vulnerable residents and assist with gettign the gas main repaired and supply restored as soon as possible. A small number ( less than 150) are not yet connected due to access issues.
Three assistance centres were set up in Maulden Village Hall, Ampthill Day Centre and Beverley Court in Clophill for residents to go to if they needed information or help.
If you are still without gas please do not switch it on yourself: wait for an engineer to visit. If you plan to be out, call 0845 835 1111.
Health and social care services have been working together to make sure vulnerable people continue to be supported.
When it's cold, you can keep warm and well by having regular hot drinks, hot meals and dressing with extra layers.
