Help us to shape mental health services in Bedfordshire

19 July 2017

With one in six Bedfordshire adults expected to experience mental ill health at some point in their lifetime, Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group is keen to listen to local views on how adult mental health crisis care can be improved.

The call for people to share their views on crisis care is part of a review of mental health services across Bedfordshire, which aims to create a modern mental health service.

As part of the review, Commissioners have held two public events and will attend a number of smaller closed groups with patients to ensure their views are considered. However, Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, the health body responsible for commissioning services locally, is keen to reach out to the wider community to hear more.

An online questionnaire is available for those people who have used mental health services or care for someone who has used services in Bedfordshire and would like to contribute to the discussion. The questionnaire is completely confidential and asks for feedback on some of the early thinking that Commissioners have done to make people safe in times of crisis.

Rachel Volpe, Head of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group said;

‘Mental Health touches so many parts of our community and with more people experiencing ill health, it’s never been more important to listen to views on how we can help people both in times of crisis and before.”

“We are committed to putting patients at the centre of everything we do and so it is essential we get first hand feedback from those that have used services so they can explain what has worked for them and how services could improve to provide the most appropriate care.

“We have been encouraged by the interest and high levels of engagement at the events and it has given us some real insights into what people think will help them in their recovery. That’s why it’s so important for us to keep listening and find out more.’

The questionnaire is available on Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s website or via https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/bedsccgmhcrisiscare until 25 August 2017.
