Class 4: How we make decisions

Bedfordshire CCG has varied criteria for decision making depending on what type of a decision it is. Generally the governing body oversees most of the major decisions as its main role is to set the strategic direction of Bedfordshire CCG and manage performance.

Meetings of the governing body are usually open to the public - forming part of a total of over 60 meetings in the course of a year which are held in public or have public members - and are held at different venues across the county. For governing body meeting dates and venues and to read the meeting papers, click here.  Also available are charts showing the composition of the governing body, and the CCG's Governance structure.  You can also read BCCG's Constitution.

Patient and public involvement strategy (PPI)

Patient and public involvement (PPI) - is a term we use to describe the ways we give local people a say in how their local NHS services are planned, delivered and evaluated. It's about BCCG talking with service users and the wider public, listening to what they say and changing the ways we do things as a result of what we hear. Click here to find out more.

Membership Scheme

You can become a public member of BCCG and receive regular news about our plans, find out about our challenges and achievements and most importantly, have your say to help us do it better.  Click here to find out more.

Public consultations

Consultation in this context describes a process by which BCCG seeks and encourages service users and the wider public to comment on the BCCG's plans and on the ways local NHS services are developed and delivered.   This helps to ensure that our services are in line with what the public needs and wants, that we are accountable to the communities we serve, and that we are accountable to the communities we serve, and that we meet our statutory responsibilities to involve local people.

Throughout the year various consultations on local and national health issues are open for the members of the public to comment.  General information on these can be found in our Communications and Engagement Strategy, but for details of forthcoming events, see also News, and if you require further information, please contact:
