Future Multiple Sclerosis Services 'You Said, We Did'

We were commissioning a new Bedfordshire wide Community Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nursing Service and wanted to understand what was important to patients with epilepsy and their family/carers.

You told us: Our response:

You felt abandoned after diagnosis and wanted a person centred service with fast access to advice, support and signposting to other appropriate services.

Your suggested priorities for improvement included:

Having person centred care.

Having a one stop shop, who could signpost you to information and services.

Improving communication between health care professionals and yourself.

We have commissioned a Community Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nurse (MSN) who will become the first point of contact and care coordinator for patients with a confirmed diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.

The MSN will carry out follow up appointments and reviews, be available by phone/email for advice on symptoms and medication and provide urgent appointments for patients having a change of symptoms.
